{"id":1127,"date":"2010-11-14T22:48:29","date_gmt":"2010-11-15T03:48:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.seakingdom.net\/blog\/?p=1127"},"modified":"2010-11-14T22:48:29","modified_gmt":"2010-11-15T03:48:29","slug":"attention-to-a-nation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.seakingdom.net\/blog\/2010\/11\/14\/attention-to-a-nation\/","title":{"rendered":"Attention to a Nation?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m writing this blog post from bed (a time when it&#8217;s useful to have a laptop).\u00a0 Normally, I don&#8217;t get to bed quite this early, but my partner needs to be up at the crack of 3:30, and can&#8217;t easily fall asleep alone.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m musing on this week&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.npr.org\/2010\/11\/13\/131300324\/don-t-draw-a-blank\" target=\"_blank\">puzzle<\/a> given by Will Shortz on NPR.\u00a0 It is as follows:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong> <\/strong>&#8220;What is the longest  familiar phrase, title or name in which the only consonants are N and T,  repeated as often as necessary? The other letters are vowels. Try to  think of an answer with at least 18 letters.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I&#8217;ve come up with a few 18-letter phrases that fit the bill, except that they aren&#8217;t familiar at all.\u00a0 Nonetheless, the words might be used to make up the answer.<\/p>\n<p>I was thinking that longer words would help, but it could be that what&#8217;s needed are several short words.\u00a0 Here are words I&#8217;ve come up with that only use those 2 consonants:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>attention<\/li>\n<li>nation<\/li>\n<li>attenuation<\/li>\n<li>inattention<\/li>\n<li>tone<\/li>\n<li>note<\/li>\n<li>nine<\/li>\n<li>in<\/li>\n<li>at<\/li>\n<li>to<\/li>\n<li>into<\/li>\n<li>tenant<\/li>\n<li>tint<\/li>\n<li>tiny<\/li>\n<li>intent<\/li>\n<li>intention<\/li>\n<li>inane<\/li>\n<li>inanity<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Anyone have other words to suggest?\u00a0 Note: if you know the answer, or an answer, don&#8217;t post it &#8211; I don&#8217;t want it spoiled.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m writing this blog post from bed (a time when it&#8217;s useful to have a laptop).\u00a0 Normally, I don&#8217;t get to bed quite this early, but my partner needs to be up at the crack of 3:30, and can&#8217;t easily fall asleep alone.
